Glocom Gemini 128v

Product description
Glocom’s Gemini-128v is a vehicle-mounted, dual-channel Inmarsat GAN terminal. It supports two channels of high speed data (combined 128 kbps) and voice (mini-M) calls via the Inmarsat 3rd or 4th generation satellites while the vehicle is in motion (at speeds of up to 100 mph).
Product applications
- Live video (128kbps) from remote field to central office
- Remote, mobilised data communications centre
- Remote paramedic operation directed from central medical specialist/staff
- Live reporting on earthquake, forest fire, and other natural disaster events
Product uniqueness
- The world’s only single-antenna mobile GAN terminal with 128 kbps data capabilities;
- Double the bandwidth and speed of any other Inmarsat GAN terminals – at roughly the same physical dimension
- Maximum safety distance between antenna and operator (up to 500 feet) for battle field fixed site application
Service capabilities
The Gemini-128v provides all of the capabilities of two separate Inmarsat single channel GAN terminals in one physical unit. Each of the two channels may be used independently to make/receive voice or data calls, or the two channels can be used together to make/receive 128 kbps data calls. Total two channels in any combinations:
- 2 of Mini-M telephony voice : 4.8 kbps AMBE voice coding
- 2 of STU-III 2.4 kbps secure voice and data (optional)
- 2 of Inmarsat M4 ISDN/ST data at 64 kbps each
System configuration
Gemini-128v consists of three modules: ODU, PIU and IDU. ODU is the outdoor unit including an antenna and electronics within a fibreglass dome. IDU is the indoor unit which connects with the user’s peripheral equipment (e.g. ISDN phone, video conference unit, ISDN terminal adapter (TA), etc.). The IDU is powered by its own built-in rechargeable battery. The PIU is the power and interface module that supplies the ODU with power from the vehicle battery and bridges modulated data to and from the IDU/ODU.
